LOkesh Ghai – Project Manager
LOkesh is a textile artist, researcher and academic based in Ahmedabad, India. LOkesh’s interests include heritage, hand-crafts, and working with communities and he regularly collaborates with numerous designers, artists and researchers from Japan, the UK and India. Over his career, LOkesh’s work has featured in the V&A Museum of Childhood, London, the Harley Gallery in Nottinghamshire, the Gallery of Costume in Manchester Art Gallery, Blackburn Museum and the Ahmedabad international Art Festival.
LOkesh has taught at numerous international institutions, and contributes to the growth of students at Kala Raksha Vidhalaya, India’s premier design institute for traditional craft communities and has lectured at the Royal College of Art in London, the University of Lancashire in Preston, the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Gandhinager, India and the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India.
Emma Sumner – Project Coordinator
Emma is an Artist, Curator and Writer based out the outskirts of Liverpool, UK. Emma’s practice is an investigation into the alternatives to wasteful consumer habits and the environmental issues caused by fast fashion and through the production of artworks and establishing projects, seeks to find alternatives to the current unsustainable system.
Over her career Emma has worked at numerous institutions including Tate Liverpool, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and regularly writes for numerous international culture publications and magazines. As a curator and researcher, Emma specialises in South Asian contemporary art and in 2015 established the online archive, ArtHive South Asia.
